Hi Nigel, The methodology work is currently being compiled as a text which we hope to have available in the next couple of months. I will however try to sort out a simple summary as you suggest in the near future and this will be posted on the TTT website and advertised via our bulletin

Jacqi,

Here in Penrith / Eden we're planning out our own EDAP development process, and rather than reinventing the wheel we would like to follow a similar methodology as that developed in Totnes as far as it lends itself to our local situation. I've looked at Appendix M (photo journey of methodology), I also attended your recent workshop at Seale Hayne where you outlined an 8 step process, however so far I cannot find a clear summary on-line of those steps 1-8 inc visioning / backcasting etc. in sequence. Does this info exist in the doc somewhere I've not found it please, or is it possible to provide a simple summary of these steps in sequence for us to refer to?

Many thanks,

Nigel Jenkins / PACT

Here's a tip for finding web pages.

In a search engine, enter the word 'site' followed by a colon ':' then (without spaces) a web address for the site or any section of it and finally the search term, e.g. to search the book for the phrase "energy security":

    site:http://totnesedap.org.uk/book/ "energy security"

-----

Technical notes:

1. This works for searching any web site that contains topics rather than being generated from a database.
2. Here the Energy Security page appears at the top of the list and there are 6 other pages with the phrase "energy security". The rest of the pages listed have the phrase hidden in the source as a keyword etc.
3. The site's own search box 'Search Totnes EDAP' works differently. It accepts words but not phrases and it ignores the source text of each page.
4. Before you run a search, check what text is included as standard on every page or in the source. In this case the words at the top of each page are in a picture (you can't select them) so they won't interfere. However those below (from 'Transition' to 'Wordpress') will cause word matches on every page!

We will look into a full contents page and site map being posted on this website. In the meantime, the How to Use This Document (located on the contents page) carries a paragraph about each section.

Hi and thanks for all this good work and for sharing the process as well!
I haven't read the whole report yet, but would just like to comment that it would be very helpful to have a full Table of Contents with all the topics and subtopics laid out on one page, and named (not called Part One, Part Two) with page numbers or length indicated, so it's possible to see how the whole report unfolds. Outlined as it is, it's a bit tricky to get a picture of what it's about or where it's going.
This is important work and sure to be a model for other people undertaking similar approaches. Look forward to reading the rest!
And thanks again to all involved!

I am not sure that everything has been set up on this website when I have read it just now.

The Transition Brighton & Hove Energy Descent & Resilience Action Plan (EDRAP) is a bit difficult to find at the moment on the TBH website, (a version with comments is also available on the Energy part of the TBH web forum) but it is available also at www.jimhadams.com.

The Energy part deals with offshore and onshore wind turbines, photovoltaics, solar thermal panels, heat insulation (e.g. lagging lofts), transport, and elements of localising food production.

The Plan will be expanded in various formats, and will form part of the EDRI (Energy Descent & Resilience Implementation).

I echo the navigation comment, also it would be good if the TOC sections Part 1, 2, 3 had a short text title too, to indicate what that section was about. And the sitemap would be great :)

I find the website a little hard to navigate. It would be great if there was either a 'site map' page or a more detailed contents page (similar to the book).
For example I know there's a section on Energy security but it'e tricky to get to the correct page even with the search option.

Many thanks for such a great piece of work.
