  • Rising numbers of people wanting to plant trees have created a ‘Tree Force’ who meet most weekends to plant and manage plantations of productive trees in the countryside, as part of the rollout of a wider agroforestry plan for the area. Teenagers have been particularly enthusiastic as they receive vouchers for ‘Leechwells café’
  • Summer evening walks around Totnes have inspired a Scented Route which links some of the many gardens with aromatic herbs and other plants
  • Totnes Town park is very busy in the evenings with families organising get-togethers, sports parties and open yoga sessions

communityCommunity

  • ‘Leechwells’ Communal Health & Wellbeing café opens in Totnes serving a wide range of popular and tasty fare
  • TTT’s event to plant up the new herb garden at the top of Heath’s car park is oversubscribed and so another herb garden is planted out in the smaller car park

Policy Makers & Service ProvidersPolicy Makers & Service Providers

  • Totnes & District Hospice Service is established with Government funding to set up three new community hospices. These will be set up in local villages where public transport is available
  • A new debate on euthanasia invites discussion on whether this should be available in hospices; living wills are widely used. The first trial of the mobile GP Village Clinic takes place in Diptford
