Transition in Action, Totnes 2030, an Energy Descent Action Plan

From Our Survey

97% of respondents stated that they always or mostly cook at home from fresh ingredients. 43% said that a member of their household grows some of the food that is eaten there. We asked people how they would rate their skills in growing food. 66% felt that they were either excellent or good at food growing, although only 8% said they had access to an allotment. We asked people to rank the priorities they attached to the choices that underpinned their thinking when they went shopping. The order in which those surveyed ranked their choices were as follows: good quality, local, low price, organic, fair trade and finally, brand. Finally, respondents were asked how far from them food would need to be grown in order for them to consider it ‘local’. 40% said within 10 miles, and 20% within 20 miles.
