Individuals
- Yr 6 pupils at primary schools in T & D network via their social networking sites and organise a MUST MAKE CHANGES Fun Day to try and convince their parents of their concerns about climate change and oil depletion. The parents are sent a text on their mobiles inviting them to a film show to watch the Age of Stupid Part 2 and are only be allowed out from the film show when they have signed up to an action for change. The pupils dress up in hot weather clothing and sunglasses and serve tropical juices at the picnic after the film.
Community
- The old Grove School building becomes a new youth centre in the centre of Totnes. An extended skate park is fitted out on 2 sides of the yard. The structures are made from old scaffolding poles donated by a local builder.
- Transition 4 Teens is formed for 12-16 year olds who wish to get involved in sustainability activities at weekends. They will be able to go on local farming camps, river monitoring, bird counts etc and all activities will include bush crafts, social time and food sharing.
Policy Makers & Service Providers
- Under the government’s 2010 initiative, all young people now contribute at least 50 hours of community service each year at the age of 19.
- The Government target of creating 35,000 new apprenticeship places is achieved; all qualified young people have a right to an apprenticeship. Many choose training which provide a good range of skills to match the new eco-jobs on offer (e.g. agriculture, house insulation, servicing wind turbines, fitting solar panels, refurbishing furniture)
