Transition in Action, Totnes 2030, an Energy Descent Action Plan

A Model for Change – An Integrated Sustainable Transport System

In response to Swindon Borough Council Consultation on “A Vision for Transport 2030”, a community vision was developed by a consortium of local groups. In this excellent plan they set out their strategies, their overall expectations of how this will evolve, and steps for getting started. There are a couple of things we in Totnes could add to this plan:

  • Freight: We need to address the travel miles of goods
  • We need to reduce the volume of goods in transit (and thereby overall consumption)
  • Shared mass transport for goods and passengers
  • Reduction Targets: We need to reduce our use of energy by 50% by 2030 (Zero Carbon Britain target)
