Importing renewable energy from other countries may be a future viable option for over-crowded countries like the UK. This type of technology and political arrangement is well beyond current options and is therefore reduced by a factor of 20 even for 2030. Solar power from the deserts is estimated by Mackay1 to have the potential to provide 125k/day/per capita

(For information only – assessed resource based on per capita share by population in Totnes):

International estimated potential for solar power from deserts is assessed at 125kWh/per capita/per day2

T&D share of estimated available resource by 2030
= 64,780.7 MWh/y
