The EDAP Rap
written and performed by Pat Sykes at the 2030 Cabaret Night in Totnes March 2009
RAPPING ON DOWN!
1.
Energy descent
needs the assent
of the masses
to stop the melting
of the glaciers.
But…don’t rush headlong
down that peak
it’s never-ending
what you can do
as you’re descending
(Chorus – all)
WRITE A PLAN
KEEP IT SWEET
SMILE A LOT
KEEP THE BEAT
PLOT YOUR PLAN AS YOU GO DOWN
THINK IT THROUGH
WHAT’S BEST TO DO
2.
Become an arbori-culturist
Not a hoader-culturist
Make do with less
plant a tree at every turn
plan your plots
grow happy veg
and share the lot.
Swap your seeds
spread the weeds (why not?)
increase the species
we can eat
keep the spinners in a spin
shearing sheep, weaving wool
knit one, purl one
slip a stitch
wear your lucky, knitted knicks
as you ‘ditch’
You won’t get rich
but you won’t be poor
you’ll just get more (of less)
(Chorus – all)
WRITE A PLAN….
3.
Become a fashion guru
in all things brown and hempy
grow your own or re-use sacks
they look quite good if skimpy
burn your purses,
shred the cheques
throw your plastic cards away
the banks in melt down
close their doors
as ‘barter’ rules the day.
Set up markets in your street
exchange your goods
your lives and jokes
take the time to meet and greet
bake a loaf
swap a cake
ride a bike
surrender consuming
get fired up ‘to make’
(Chorus – all)
WRITE A PLAN….
4.
Design your homes with ‘natural’ flair,
the energy from earth, wind and fire!
Chop the wood
share a meal
be a sister
be a brother
ride the bumpy
slide together
share the laughter
share the fears
and share your stars!
(final chorus – all)
WRITE A PLAN
KEEP IT SWEET
SMILE A LOT
KEEP THE BEAT
PLOT YOUR PLAN AS YOU GO DOWN
SEE IT THROUGH
WHAT’S BEST TO DO
